The term “phytonutrients” summarises a large number of different compounds that are produced by plants. They include carotenoids and citrus bioflavonoids, for example, which occur as natural substances in our foods.
1) The omega-3 fatty acids found in large quantities in fish oil especially include docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA).
2) These are polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are found in cell membranes, for example. Vitamin A (thiamine), vitamin B2 (riboflavin), biotin and niacin contribute to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes (e.g. mucous membrane of the mouth).
3) Vitamin B12, vitamin B6 , vitamin B2 (riboflavin), vitamin C, pantothenic acid, folic acid, niacin and magnesium contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. |
